Take multi_v8_defconfig, open menuconfig and enable your SoC and use that. That will be quicker than enabling everything yourself. If it doesn't work out of the box, try imx_v8_defconfig. Once you get around to upstreaming your SoC, I'd suggest you just add it to multi_v8_defconfig. Not all ARMv8 SoCs are supported there, but those that are make development easier, because we don't need to build as many different configs..
